Day 12 - Dingle

Today Amy and I bussed to Dingle. We decided to bus because it took about the same amount of time as the train and was much cheaper. It was not too cheap still though. We got on the bus around 10am. It was pouring. We were disappointed to not get to see more of Dublin and so tried to take some pictures out the bus window. Mine did not turn out so well.
And here is Amy on the bus.

This bus trip had three legs. The first was supposed to be three hours acourding to the online trip planner. It turned out to be four hours and we missed our connection. We got out of the bus and grabbed our bags to transfer them to the next bus. It had been pouring all day and there had been many stops before ours. Each time the bus stopped the luggage compartment was opened. When we got our luggage Amy's was damp and mine was entirely soaked!

The only way we could think of to keep our bags dry was to put them in garbage bags and rubberband the bags shut. The bus ride was supposed to have been three hours but instead it had turned out to be four hours. Because of this we missed out connection and had an hour and a half wait. Since we had time I ran across the street to find trash bags while Amy stayed with the stuff. I found the trash bags easily but it took me three attempts to buy them. First I realized I couldn't use a card, second time I came back with pounds. It took until the third time for me to come back with euros. I got really wet in the meantime walking back and forth to the train station in the rain to get the correct currency.

You can see how relieved (and soaked) I was after getting the bags:

And with my soaked and dripping backpack.

The Following two bus trips went very smoothly. Here are some pictures I took from the bus:

When we arrived in Dingle a van from the hostel that we had wanted to stay at was waiting to meet the bus. The driver (who I think was the hostel owner) was very nice and helpful. Actually the whole hostel was very nice. It was very clean unlike the last hostel. It was also much cheaper and had much more room.

After getting settled in it was about 8pm and we had not had dinner yet. We decided to go out to a pub because since we had spent the whole day on the bus we had not gotten to experience any of Ireland. The pub we found had good food and a band that played a combination of traditional and rock music. Here is the band and a little bit of the pub.
